A final self-portrait.  

I loved this 30-day challenge.  I loved that it made me pick my camera up every day, made me think a little outside myself sometimes and that I got some really nice shots even though it wasn't always a big challenge.  I'm working on digging up another one to do in another few months because I enjoyed this one so much.

For tonight's animal photo, I  turned to Kayla for inspiration.  She helped me take this picture of her lion, in the kitchen.

And it is with this photo that I retire my beloved Nikon D40.  It has served me well since Kayla was very little, but I'm ready to move on.  My new D5100 arrived today - I'm still setting it up, but will be ready to go for tomorrow since someone is coming to buy the D40 tomorrow night.

Now it's time to do some more lens shopping!!!

And true to my luck, after yesterday's "clouds" theme... this is what greeted me this morning when I looked out back.  Typical. 

30 Day Challenge - Day 3

Today's photo theme was "clouds."  Yesterday I woke up to stunning pink and orange bands in the sky, and was hoping for the same today.  Instead I got grey haze.  Since it's generally dark when I get home, I contemplated switching the days up, but decided not to because sometimes that's what it means to be a photographer - just working with what you have.  Today, that's what I did.
